Although I am not a rabid collector of AA miles, I have recently been paying attention to them as good value for short-haul one ways in random locations. For instance, otherwise expensive intra-Russia tickets on S7, a oneworld partner.
Current bonuses are:

5000 – 9999 miles gets 1500 bonus miles

10,000 – 14,000 miles gets 3000 bonus miles

15,000 – 19,000 miles gets 4500 bonus miles

20,000 – 29,000 miles gets 10,000 bonus miles

30,000 – 39,000 miles gets 15,000 bonus miles

40,000 – 49,000 miles gets 20,000 bonus miles
-
50,000 – 59,000 miles gets 25,000 bonus miles
-
60,000 miles gets 30,000 bonus miles (and do notice that the usual max purchase limit of 40K miles has been raised).
Basically, if you’re buying anywhere over 20,000 miles, they work out to 2 cents/mile. This can be pretty good value if you need some arcane tickets somewhere.
